Cabin Mate Policy

At Camp Firwood, we value camper friendships, old and new. With this in mind, we want to be able to offer campers opportunities with a cabin. However, due to overlapping cabin mate requests and “friendship chain”, it becomes difficult to determine cabin assignments and thus we are updating our cabin mate policy.

Cabin Mate Policy

  • Each camper can request up to 2 cabin mates.
  • For a request to be recognized, it must be mutual. It is the parent’s responsibility to communicate with other parents about mutual requests.
  • Requests must be in writing/email or noted on your camper’s online profile.
  • Requests must be the same grade; we may make a one grade exception depending on the situation.
  • Siblings are generally placed in separate cabins, unless requested otherwise.
  • Cabin mate requests may be submitted or changed up until two weeks prior to camp.
  • Your camper will be notified of their cabin assignment upon Opening Day Check-In.
  • Non-requests (requesting that your camper not be placed in the same cabin as another) are not recognized.

If a group starts to branch out and start a ‘friendship chain’, we will put 2 friends in one cabin and 3 in another (for example). Our staff reserves the right to let a camper know if a particular group of 3 is locked; so that they can be free to look for other friends attending camp.

Ultimately, we want your camper to have the best experience possible and we know that often times, having a buddy at camp can really create a comfortable atmosphere. At the same time, we hope that your camper leaves Camp Firwood with new friends.

Wait list

To be put on a Wait list, you must register your camper and pay the $100 Application Fee upfront. If a spot becomes available, you will be notified by e-mail immediately. You are responsible to notify us if your plans change, if you do not and a spot opens, you will not be refunded the Application Fee.

If you would like your camper on more than one Wait list, you must register them with a $100 Application Fee for each session. If you have put your camper on more than one Wait List as a safety net, please keep in mind that you lose the $100 Application Fee upon canceling. We do not consider being on a second Wait list as a way to transfer to another Wait listed session that your camper gets in to, we consider it a cancellation. No funds will be transferred from one Wait list to another.

Cancellations

For all cancellations prior to camp, you will be refunded either by credit card or check depending on the method of payment, minus the $100 Application Fee (US Funds) and any Paintball fee. No Shows are non-refundable. Please cancel at least 2 days prior to Opening Day.

Transfers

One session transfer is free of charge, each transfers after that has a $50 processing fee.

Bounced Checks

If we receive a returned check from our bank for a payment you made, you will be invoiced for the original amount of the check plus a $25 bank fee. The payment of the invoiced amount will be due within 30 days of invoice date. We will re-submit the original check once before sending the invoice and fee. We will not accept another check for the re-payment; you must pay with cash, money order or credit card.

Inappropriate Behavior

Camp Firwood reserves the right to send campers home for inappropriate behavior at the parent(s) or guardian(s) cost, and without refund. The safety and security of our guests is always of the highest priority.
